This press release provides the data for the HDB resale and rental market in 3rd Quarter 2019.
HDB Resale Market
2 The Resale Price Index (RPI) rose by 0.1%, from 130.8 in 2nd Quarter 2019 to 130.9 in 3rd Quarter 2019 (see Annex A).
3 Resale transactions fell slightly by 0.2%, from 6,276 cases in 2nd Quarter 2019 to 6,264 cases in 3rd Quarter 2019 (see Annex B). Compared to 3rd Quarter 2018, resale transactions in 3rd Quarter 2019 were 11.3% lower.
4 The median resale prices in the various towns in 3rd Quarter 2019 are tabulated in Annex C.
HDB Rental Market
5 The median rents in the various towns in 3rd Quarter 2019 are tabulated in Annex D.
6 The number of approved applications to rent out HDB flats fell by 2.7%, from 12,335 cases in 2nd Quarter 2019 to 12,006 cases in 3rd Quarter 2019 (see Annex E). Compared to 3rd Quarter 2018, the number of approved applications in 3rd Quarter 2019 was 7.0% higher. As at 30 Sep 2019, there were 56,474 HDB flats rented out, an increase of 1.3% over 2nd Quarter 2019 (55,763 units)[1].
Upcoming Sales Launches
7 HDB will offer about 4,500 Build-To-Order (BTO) flats in Ang Mo Kio, Tampines and Tengah in November 2019. In February 2020, HDB will offer about 3,000 BTO flats in Sembawang and Toa Payoh. More information on these flats is available on the HDB InfoWEB.
8 Meanwhile, some flats are available for open booking. Eligible flat buyers may apply online at HDB InfoWEB on a first-come-first-served basis, and book a unit as early as the next working day.
[1] The July release of the 2nd Quarter 2019 public housing data stated that 58,528 HDB flats were rented out, an increase of 1.3% over 1st Quarter 2019 (57,764 units). The actual figures should have been 55,763, an increase of 1.5% over 1st Quarter 2019 (54,941 units).
