Private home rents fall in Sep, HDB rents flat - AsiaOne

SINGAPORE - Rental prices for condominiums and private apartments fell 0.3 per cent in September compared to August, according to the most recent Price Index report by online real estate portal SRX Property.

Rentals in Sep 2015 were down 5.6 per cent year-on-year from Sep 2014, and 13 per cent lower compared with its peak in Jan 2013.

Rental volume for the sector saw a drop of 4.1 per cent, with an estimated 3,758 units rented in Sep 2015 compared to 3,919 units rented in Aug.

Year-on-year, the rental volume last month was 17.7 per cent higher than then 3,194 units rented in Sep last year.

Meanwhile, HDB rents were flat from Aug to Sep 2015.

Rents in HDB three, five and executive room flats posted declines of 0.1 per cent, 0.5 per cent and 2.8 per cent respectively, but were offset by a 1.1 per cent increase in rents for four-room units.

Rents in mature estates experienced a 0.3 per cent decrease, while rents in non-mature estates posted a 0.4 per cent increase in Sep 2015.

Year-on-year, rents of non-mature estates dropped 4.1 per cent, while rents of mature estates slipped 3.3 per cent.

HDB rental volume saw an increase of 0.9 per cent in Sep, with an estimated 1,736 HDB flats rented in Sep 2015, compared to 1,721 units rented in Aug 2015.

Year-on-year, HDB rental volume in Sep 2015 saw a 7 per cent increase from Sep 2014.
