Private apartment and HDB rents dip further in February - AsiaOne

SINGAPORE - Rental rates for private non-landed homes and HDB flats continued to fall in February, SRX Property said in a flash report on Wednesday.

According to the SRX Property Price Index for non-landed private residential units, rents last month fell 0.8 per cent from January, and posted a drop of 6.2 per cent when compared year-on-year.

Overall, rental volume declined by 25.8 per cent, with 2,586 non-landed private residential units rented last month compared to 3,487 units in January.

Rental volume in February 2015 was also 5.9 per cent lower than the 2,748 units rented in February 2014.

In the HDB market, rents fell by 0.3 per cent in February from January.

While HDB 3- and 4-room flats posted declines in rents of 0.8 per cent and 0.6 per cent respectively, 5-room and executive flats saw a pick-up in rents of 0.7 per cent and 0.5 per cent respectively.

When compared year-on-year, HDB rents fell 3 per cent in February.
An estimated 1,371 HDB flats were rented in February, 25.7 per cent down from the 1,846 figure recorded in January.

The total number of HDB flats rented in February was also 6.5 per cent lower than the 1,467 units rented in February 2014.
